Pune, 22nd May 2024: The 17-year-old son of a prominent Pune builder spent Rs 48,000 in just 90 minutes at one of two pubs he visited before ramming his Porsche Taycan into a motorcycle in the early hours of Sunday, resulting in the deaths of two young techies.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar reported that the Rs 48,000 bill was paid at Cosie, the first pub the teenager and his friends visited around 10:40 PM on Saturday. After Cosie stopped serving them, they moved to a second pub, Blak Mariott, at 12:10 AM.

“We have obtained the Rs 48,000 bill from the pub, which the underage driver paid. The bill includes the cost of the liquor served to the teenager and his friends,” Kumar said.

Additional CP Manoj Patil confirmed, “The teenager had visited pubs and consumed alcohol before driving his car. We have ample CCTV footage of the boy and his group consuming alcohol. The blood sample reports are still awaited.”

Despite awaiting the blood sample reports, Pune police invoked Section 185 (drunk driving) of the Motor Vehicle Act against the 17-year-old based on the circumstances and evidence collected so far.
