Temporary Proof Instead of Caste Validity Certificate For Gram Panchayat Elections

Pune, December 16, 2020: The State Election Commission has made an important announcement for the candidates who want to contest Gram Panchayat elections on reserved seats. The concerned candidate can submit a temporary proof instead of caste validity certificate that is an acknowledgement of the application or the attested copy of the application made to the Verification Committee for obtaining the Caste Validity Certificate, informed State Election Commissioner UPS Madan.

Madan said, “The deadline for filing nominations for the Gram Panchayat elections announced by the State Election Commission on December 11, 2020, is December 30, 2020.

While contesting for the reserved seats, it will be necessary to submit the proof of application for caste validity certificate along with a guarantee to the Caste Verification Committee.

The verification committee will issue a caste certificate within 12 months from the date of victory of the candidate.”
