The Ladies All India Amateur Golf Championship begins in Pune
Pune, 05 December 2023: The Ladies All India Amateur Golf Championship is the oldest golf tournament for ladies in thecountry which started in year 1906 at Royal Calcutta Golf Club. From there the tournament has gonefrom strength to strength. Mrs. L Walker from Calcutta was the first winner of this prestigioustournament and since then reputed names in the women’s Indian Golf have gone onto win thetournament. These include Ms. Nonita Lall (multiple winner), Seema Sobti, Simi Mehra, VandanaAgarwal and the likes. The prestigious trophy has also been won by Ms. Aditi Ashok twice. This yearthe tournament as always boasts of a competitive field with the likes of Heena Kang, Vidhatri Urs,Nishna Patel, Mannat Brar amongst others. Lets wait and see if Mannat can overcome the lasthurdle and convert her runner up finish last year to winner this year. The first day of play saw fierce competition on the field with five players tied at the top at 1-under par – Vidhatri Urs, Lavanya Jadon, Mannat Brar, Anuradha Chaudhuri and Janneya A Dassaniee.At the end of the second round tomorrow (Dec 6), the stroke play winner shall win the Billoo Sethi Trophy.
