New Delhi,28th March 2024: In February 2024, the export figures for cars and SUVs from India totaled 60,767 units, marking a decline of 10.51 percent compared to the same period last year, where 67,907 units were exported. Among the plethora of vehicles exported, Maruti Baleno emerged as the top favorite, with 5,110 units shipped overseas, showcasing a significant increase from the 3,552 units exported in February the previous year. Following closely behind, the Maruti Dzire secured the second position, with 4,474 units exported. The versatile Jimny claimed the third spot, with 4,406 units exported during the month.

Honda’s Elevate SUV garnered attention as well, with 3,610 units finding their way to international markets. Rounding up the top five, Maruti Swift hatchback stood strong with 3,590 units exported worldwide.

However, not all models fared equally well in the international market. Renault Triber, Citroen EC3, Mahindra Bolero, Renault Kiger, and Maruti Ignis experienced minimal demand abroad, with only a few units exported for each model. Renault Triber and Citroen EC3 saw merely one unit each exported, while Mahindra Bolero and Renault Kiger saw five and nine units exported, respectively. Maruti Ignis also faced subdued demand, with only nine units exported in the last month.

This shift in export demand highlights the evolving preferences of global consumers and underscores the competitive landscape of the automotive industry. As manufacturers navigate these fluctuations, strategic decisions will be crucial to maintaining and expanding their market presence both domestically and internationally.
