Tired of the Scorching Heat? Skip the Packaged Juices and Try This Refreshing Grape Sherbet
By Titiksha Choudhary
Pune, 2nd June 2026: Summer has arrived in full force, bringing with it blazing sunshine, rising temperatures, and endless perspiration. On such sweltering days, most of us instinctively reach for something cold to quench our thirst and beat the heat.
While packaged juices and carbonated drinks may seem convenient, they are often loaded with sugar and preservatives, making them less suitable for everyday consumption. Even the ever-popular lemon water, though refreshing, can become monotonous over time. Excessive consumption may also contribute to tooth enamel erosion and, for some individuals, cause acidity or stomach discomfort.
So why not try something different this summer—something delicious, refreshing, and naturally nourishing?
Enter grape sherbet, a simple homemade drink that combines taste with health benefits.
Why Grapes Are a Summer Superfood
Grapes contain a high percentage of water, helping the body stay hydrated during hot weather. They are also rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and natural sugars that provide a quick energy boost when fatigue sets in.
Whether you prefer green or black grapes, this cooling drink is a great way to refresh yourself after a long day in the sun.
Ingredients
1 large cup of fresh grapes (green or black)
2 to 3 teaspoons sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
½ teaspoon black salt
¼ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
1 teaspoon lemon juice
7 to 8 fresh mint leaves
Cold water
Ice cubes
How to Make Grape Sherbet
Wash the grapes thoroughly to remove any dirt or impurities.
Add the grapes, sugar or honey, black salt, roasted cumin powder, mint leaves, and half a cup of cold water to a mixer jar.
Blend until the mixture becomes smooth.
Strain the mixture through a sieve to remove the grape skins and obtain a smooth juice.
Add the lemon juice and additional cold water as required to achieve the desired consistency.
Pour the sherbet into a chilled glass filled with ice cubes.
Garnish with a slice of lemon and a few fresh mint leaves for an extra touch of freshness.
The Perfect Summer Pick-Me-Up
After returning home exhausted from the heat, a glass of chilled grape sherbet can feel incredibly revitalising. The combination of natural fruit sugars, cooling mint, and refreshing citrus makes it an excellent alternative to sugary beverages.
This summer, give your usual drinks a break and enjoy a glass of homemade grape sherbet—a simple recipe that offers both flavour and refreshment in every sip.
