To Avoid COVID Restrictions, Use Masks And Follow Discipline: CM Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai, 2nd June 2022: “Covid is again spreading its wing. In the last few days the number of patient is on the rise. The state government will be closely watching the situation for next 15 days. If restrictions are to be avoided, the citizens should follow the Covid protocols by themselves. Use masks, get jabs, wash your hands frequently and keep physical distance,” this appeal was made by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, today evening.

The chief minister conducted a meeting at his official residence Varsha with the Covid task force committee members to discuss the situation. Chief secretary Manu Kumar Shrivtastav, principal secretary of the chief minister Sitaram Kunte, additional chief secretary of public health department Dr Pradeep Vyas, additional chief secretary of the chief minister Ashish Kumar Singh and others were present on the occasion. At the beginning of the meeting, additional chief secretary Dr Vyas gave detail information about the situation in the state.

He said that on 16th April 22, the number of active patients in the state was 626 and today after one and a half month, increasing seven folds, it had reached to 4500.

He said that a total of 97 percent patients of the state are in Mumbai, Thane, Pune and other metropolitan regions. He also said that the positivity rate in Mumbai is 6 percent and that in the state had jumped to 3 percent.

 

Chief minister Thackeray further said that in the last few days, the number of Covid patients in the state is on the rise and as instructed by the experts from the medical field, there are possibilities of Covid increasing in the state so the state government will be monitoring the situation in next 15 days.

 

“We appeal to the citizens to emphasize on following the Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB)”, he said.

 

Keep the field hospitals prepared

The chief minister asked the health department authorities to ensure that field hospitals that were erected during the Covid period are all in good condition and ready. He directed them to carry on the structural audit of these hospitals and ensure that the medical employees are present. He also instructed them to review the infrastructural facilities of these facilities.

 

Thackeray also directed to increase the number of Covid tests in the state and make all out efforts in this regard. He further asked the authority to see whether the new variants of Covid virus exists in the state, and if it does exist, study about the infection capacity of the mutants.

 

Stating that the schools in the state are soon going to re-open, the chief minister directed the authorities to gather the information about the decisions taken at global level and the updated situation of children getting infected should also be collected.

 

The chairman of the Covid task force Dr Sanjay Oak, Dr Ajit Desai, Dr Bajan, Dr Shashank Joshi, Dr Rahul Pandit, Dr Vasant Nagvekar Dr Tatyarao Lahane and others participated in the discussion through video conferencing and give their suggestions.

 

Chief minister’s appeal to the people

· If you are having temperature, cold and infection in the throat, get tested for Covid as early as possible.

· Use masks at the crowded places.

· Increase the vaccinations of citizens between age group of 12 to 18.

· All the senior citizens with co-morbidity should get the jab and also go for booster doses.

· Health authority should ascertain infrastructural facilities.

· Keep the stock of Oxygen and medicines ready.

· As we are on the threshold of monsoon and as such, there are possibilities of water -borne diseases in the state. They will be on the rise and their symptoms resembles to that of Corona so the doctors should test all such patients at the earliest.
