Camp: Traffic Diversions Announced in Pune for Eid al-Adha Celebrations on June 7

Pune, 5th June 2025: In view of the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Bakri Eid) on 7 June, the Pune Traffic Police have issued temporary traffic diversions and restrictions in various parts of the city to manage large gatherings and ensure smooth vehicular movement.

The diversions will be in place from 6:00 AM until the conclusion of the Namaz.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Sandeep Bhijibhakare has appealed to citizens to remain informed about the temporary changes and cooperate with traffic personnel on duty. The restrictions include road closures, no-entry zones, and alternate route suggestions.

Key Traffic Changes and Alternate Routes:

1. Bhairoba Nala to Golibar Maidan

• Closed: 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM (timing may vary based on crowd movement).
• Alternate Routes:
  • Heavy vehicles headed towards Swargate (Market Yard only) should take Prince of Wales Road and Lulla Nagar Chowk.
  • Light vehicles heading to Pune Railway Station should use Empress Garden Road.

2. Mamma Devi Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk

• Closed: 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
• Alternate Routes:
  • Mamma Devi Chowk → Bishop’s School → destination.
  • Via Command Hospital or Empress Garden Road → CDO Chowk → destination.

3. CDO Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk

• No entry for vehicles: 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
• Alternate Routes:
  • From Lulla Nagar, take a left at CDO Chowk.
  • At Khatav Bungalow Chowk, a temporary right-turn will be allowed. From there, proceed via Empress Garden Road → Mamma Devi Chowk → Bishop’s School → onward journey.

4. Seven Loves Chowk to Golibar Maidan

• Movement restricted: 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
• Alternate Route:
  • Use Salisbury Park → CDO Chowk → Bhairoba Nala Chowk → destination.

5. Old Solapur Bazar Police Post to Golibar Maidan

• No vehicular access: 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
• Alternate Routes:
  • Vehicles from Khane Maruti Chowk should go via Pulgate Depot.
  • From Solapur Bazar Chowk, take Empress Garden Road → Khatav Bungalow or Mamma Devi Chowk.

6. Lulla Nagar Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk

• Restrictions: All heavy vehicles, cargo carriers, and PMPML buses will not be permitted.
• Alternate Route:
  • Use Bhairoba Nala Chowk or Gangadham Chowk to reach the destination.

The Pune Police have urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, use the suggested alternative routes, and follow instructions from traffic personnel. These measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and smooth traffic movement during the Eid festivities.
