Traffic Diversions Announced on Pune–Nagar Highway to Ease Congestion

Pune, 25th April 2025: In a bid to reduce traffic congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement along the busy Pune–Nagar Highway, the Pune City Traffic Police has issued temporary traffic regulation orders within the Kharadi and Chandannagar traffic division limits.
The revised traffic plan specifically targets key bottleneck areas at Tata Guard Room Chowk and Chandannagar Chowk, which have seen frequent traffic snarls in recent months.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zhende has notified the changes, which come into effect from Saturday, April 26. As part of the new measures, signal systems at both junctions will be temporarily deactivated to facilitate uninterrupted traffic flow. All previously issued traffic orders at these locations now stand cancelled.
Traffic Diversions at Tata Guard Room Junction:
- The Pune-to-Nagar lane will remain continuously open.
- Vehicles heading from Pune to Old Mundhwa Road (via Dwarka Garden/Sainath Nagar) must cross the junction and take a U-turn at a designated divider opening.
- Vehicles coming from Old Mundhwa Road and heading towards Nagar (Wagholi) must turn left at the junction, proceed towards Pune, and then take a U-turn at the divider opening to access their desired route.
Traffic Diversions at Chandannagar Junction:
- The Pune-to-Nagar lane will remain continuously open.
- Vehicles entering Chandan Nagar Market from Pune must drive straight past the junction and take a U-turn at the divider to reach their destination.
- Vehicles exiting Chandan Nagar Market and heading towards Nagar (Wagholi) must turn left at the junction, travel towards Pune, and then take a U-turn at the divider opening.
The traffic police have appealed to commuters for cooperation, stating that these changes are aimed at improving traffic flow and ensuring road safety along this critical stretch of the highway.
