PMRDA Cracks Down on Unauthorized Hoardings; Violators Pay Rs 48 Lakh to Avoid Further Action

Pune, 25th April 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated a crackdown on unauthorized hoardings across its jurisdiction, beginning Monday (April 21). The enforcement drive began in Wadki (Haveli taluka) and Hinjawadi (Mulshi taluka), leading to the removal of illegal hoardings at three locations.
In response, violators rushed to settle pending dues, with ₹48 lakh deposited with PMRDA by April 22 to avoid further punitive measures.
The action is being carried out under the supervision of PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Superintendent of Police and Vigilance Officer Amol Tambe, and Joint Commissioner Dr. Deepti Suryawanshi-Patil. Field operations were conducted by officials including Tehsildars Ravindra Ranjane and Sachin Maske, along with engineers Vishnu Awhad, Deepti Ghuse, Prashant Chougule, Ruturaj Sonawane, Ganesh Jadhav, and Tejas Madane. Local security personnel were also deployed during the drive.
Unseasonal rains and strong winds have made unauthorized hoardings a growing safety hazard in the PMRDA region. Similar incidents in the past have raised concerns over public safety. In light of this, the authority has announced that regular action will now be taken against illegal and unsafe hoardings—especially those exceeding height limits or posing structural risks at high-traffic areas.
PMRDA has urged hoarding owners to obtain proper permissions before installation. Failing this, unilateral removal action will be initiated without further notice.
Joint Commissioner Dr. Deepti Suryawanshi-Patil also warned that no new hoardings should be erected without prior approval from the authority.
