Traffic Diversions on Old Mumbai Pune Highway Announced for Navratri Festival at Ekvira Devi Temple
Pune, 19th September 2025: In anticipation of heavy crowds during the Navratri festival at Shri Ekvira Devi Temple in Vehergaon, Karla (Maval taluka), the Pune district administration has announced traffic restrictions and diversions. The festival will be celebrated from September 22 to October 2, 2025.
District Collector and Magistrate Jitendra Dudi has issued the orders under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and powers conferred by the Home Department notification dated May 19, 1990.
According to the order:
From September 22 to October 2, 2025, heavy and large vehicles will not be allowed on the road from Karla Phata to the foothill of Shri Ekvira Devi Temple.
From September 27 to October 1, 2025, between 6 am and 10 pm, heavy and large vehicles will not be allowed on the Old Mumbai–Pune Highway and Pune–Mumbai Highway, between Kusgaon Budruk Toll Plaza in Lonavala and Vadgaon Phata, Vadgaon Maval.
Heavy vehicles traveling towards Pune from the Old Mumbai–Pune Highway will be diverted from Kusgaon Budruk Toll Plaza in Lonavala to the Pune Expressway via Urse Toll Plaza.
Heavy vehicles traveling towards Mumbai will be diverted from Talegaon Phata in Vadgaon through Urse Ghat onto the Expressway towards Mumbai.
The district administration has appealed to citizens and motorists to follow the traffic regulations and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth traffic movement and the safety of devotees during the festival.
