Tragic End to Love Marriage: Young Woman Commits Suicide Due to Husband’s Abuse in Pimpri Chinchwad
Pimpri, 8th June 2024: A young woman who had entered into a love marriage tragically took her own life by hanging herself in Pimpri Chinchwad. She had endured relentless abuse from her husband, who demanded money from her parents, for over two years, spanning from January 2022 to June 2024. Fed up with the torment, she ended her life at her residence in Morwadi on Wednesday, June 5th.
The deceased’s mother complained to the Pimpri Police Station. The Pimpri police have filed a case against the husband, Laxman Kailas Waghmare, aged 21 and a resident of Morwadi, Pimpri, under IPC sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 498A (husband or relative of husband subjecting a woman to cruelty), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
According to Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Mudal, the investigating officer, the young woman married the accused in a love marriage in January 2022. Although the marriage initially occurred through elopement, the family later accepted it. The husband, reportedly addicted to alcohol and unemployed, subjected her to daily abuse, including physical violence and threats, while demanding money from her parents to fuel his addiction. The girl’s distress ultimately led her to take her own life. The Pimpri police are investigating the matter further.
