Transgender Welfare Board will be established soon : Ajit Pawar

Mumbai, 7/01/2020: Though Transgender Welfare Board includes experts working for the well-being of the transgenders in the state, its official establishment is put on delay even after the G.R. is issued. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed today to establish the board immediately.

 Pawar spoke at the meeting held to discuss various problems faced by transgenders.

Pawar said, The transgenders have to face different problems. To solve these problems and to bring them in the society and for their progress, a special unit will be established in the form of Transgender Welfare Board. The board will be inclusive of various departments of the government and the experts working in this field. Transgenders can avail benefits of various govt.schemes through this board and can achieve economic and cultural growth.

A helpline in Marathi language will be started to solve transgenders’ problems. Shri. Pawar also told that efforts will be made to achieve transgenders’ social, educational and economic development through this board.

Social Justice and Special Assistance Minister Dhananjay Munde, Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope, MP Supriya Sule, Transgender representative Gauri Sawant, Principal Secretary of Social Justice and Special Assistance Dinesh Waghmare, Principal Secretary of Finance Department Nitin Gadre, Divyang Welfare Commissioner Smt. Prerana Deshbhratar and senior officers from various departments were present in the meeting.
