Trekker From Pune Dies At Harishchandra Gad
Pune 3rd August 2023: In a tragic incident reported at Harishchandra Fort on Wednesday, a trekker has lost his life after spending a night in the forest with his colleagues after they lost their way to return. The deceased identified as Anil alias Balu Gite (32), a resident of Pune’s Lohegaon suspected to have died to bad weather.
According to reports, Balu and his friends from Pune had gone for trek at Harishchandra Gad on Tuesday afternoon. They lost their way in the forest after trekking for sometime due to dense fog and bad weather. They were unable to contact anyone due to bad network. At last, the trekkers’ group decided to spend night inside the sense forest.
However, due to bad weather Gite’s health deteriorated and as they started their return trek at the morning he died. The other trekkers started searching for the way to return while carrying their group member’s body. At last, they found another trekkers’ group led by a local guide who then contacted the villagers for help.
Later rescue teams including local villagers reached the spot and the stranded group of trekkers was rescued.
