Trivikram Dhol Tasha Squad Dubai Launches Children’s Troupe, Wins Hearts at Ganesh Utsav in Abu Dhabi
Pune, 23rd September 2023: Trivikram Dhol Tasha Squad Dubai, the first and only traditional Dhol Tasha Squad in the Gulf, has recently launched a children’s troupe to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra.
Founded in 2017 by Sagar Patil, the squad has been honored by the Maharashtra government with a special Marathi language award. The troupe aims to promote the Dhol Tasha culture, often referred to as the voice of Maharashtra. Recently, the squad completed 150 performances and has now taken a significant step to pass on this heritage to the younger generation.
The newly formed children’s team, named Trivikram Balamitra Dhol Tasha Team Dubai, consists of boys and girls aged 6 to 14. “I established this team so that children growing up abroad can be aware of and attracted to the art and culture of Maharashtra,” says Sagar Patil, the founder.
The young artists have been introduced to traditional instruments like Dhol, Tasha, Lezim, Dhwaj, and Zanj, and have received proper training. On September 19, the Balamitra team performed in front of approximately 6,000 Ganesha devotees at the Ganesh Utsav in Abu Dhabi, winning the hearts of the audience.
Currently, the troupe has 12 artists, including Pushan Patil, Kavya Sangle, Hetvi Joshi, Om and Ishwari Irwadkar, Anay and Vinay Patil, Anvita Sawant, Adi Patil, Praja and Sakshi Hasbe, Bhagya Gawde, and Arush Karve. New member registration is receiving an enthusiastic response.
The team, led by Sagar Patil, plans to perform at many significant events in Dubai, contributing to the preservation of Marathi culture abroad.
