Pune: Supriya Sule and Sunetra Pawar Face Allegations of Misreporting Campaign Costs in Baramati, Notices Issued

Baramati, 3rd May 2024: Election Returning Officer of Baramati Lok Sabha Constituency, Kavita Dwivedi, has issued notices to Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Supriya Sule and Mahayuti candidate Sunetra Pawar.

This action follows the second inspection of the election expenses of the Baramati constituency, which revealed discrepancies between the expenses reported by the candidates and those documented by the administration. If no clarification is provided within two days, these expenses will be recorded in their accounts under the assumption that the difference is acceptable.

A second investigation was conducted into the campaign expenditures of the candidates in the Baramati constituency. Consequently, discrepancies of Rs 1.3 lakh and Rs 9.10 lakh were found in the expenditures reported by Sule and Pawar, respectively. These discrepancies were contested by the candidates’ representatives. An order has been issued to disclose this information within two days. Additionally, complaints can be lodged with the District Expenditure Monitoring Committee regarding this matter.
