Pune – Members of the Bhumata Brigade on Tuesday beat up Bhaben Saikia, the man accused killing Infosys techie Rasila Raju in her office in Hinjawadi on January 30.

A team from Hinjawadi police had brought him to the court in Shivajinagar after expiry of his police custody remand. The court granted his 14 days magisterial custody remand and sent him to Yerwada Central Jail.

As soon as cops escorted him out of the new building on the court premises, Desai who was sitting with her face hidden with purple dupatta, stood up from the raised platform. The cops standing in the stairs with accused asked for women cops. However Desai tried to attack Saikia. Assistant Police Inspector Ganesh Dhamne caught her but she managed to slap him twice. Two of her supporters also managed hit him as the cops and women ran around in the open space. After this cops whisked away Saikia towards gate no. 3 where their vehicle was stationed.

Desai again managed to free herself and ran behind cops with her supporters. However the police had zoomed away in their vehicle. The security team didn’t detain Desai and her supporters and they walked away outside the court from gate no. 4.
