Two Fire Brigade Officials From Pune To Get President’s Fire Service Medal For Meritorious Service

Pune 14th August 2023: Two fire brigade officials from Pune are among the 8 fire brigade personnel from Pune whose names have been announced for the ‘President’s Fire Service Medal’ for their meritorious service on the occasion of Independence Day 2023. The two include Fire Engine Driver Karim Khan Fhajal Khan Pathan and Fire Ambulance Attendant Narsinha Basappa Patel.

Serving for the Fire Brigade Team of Pune Municipal Corporation for over 36 years, Karim Khan started his career as ambulance attendant and was later elevated to the post of Fire Engine Driver. He saved many lives in the fire incidents reported in the city including the fire incidents reported at Bhori Ali, Ravivar Peth in 2016, Crossword Book Shop fire at Pune Station in 2016, Hoarding Collapse Incident at Mangalwar Peth in 2018, said the city fire brigade team while feeling proud of hearing their colleagues’ name in the list of prestigious award.

Narsinha Basappa Patel, inducted in the fire service in 1998 also saved many lives by taking the injured people in various major incidents to hospital. He played a major role in the fire incident reported at the Petrol Pump in Mangalwar Peth in 2003. He also saved people at Dhankawadi in 2012 when a building collapsed and several people were trapped under the debris.
