Pune, 30th June 2025: Additional Sessions Judge A. S. Waghmare has sentenced two men to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the rape of a minor girl, while two others have received 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for their involvement in her kidnapping. The judgment also includes fines for the convicts, with a portion directed to be paid as compensation to the victim.
In the rape case, Rizwan Ansari (35, resident of Uttam Nagar) and Dashrath Chavan (22, Vadgaon Budruk) were each sentenced to 20 years in prison. Rizwan was fined Rs 13,500, and Dashrath Rs 10,000. For the kidnapping, Ujjwala Atkare (23, Sinhagad Road) and Sajid Ansari (26, Erandwane) were each sentenced to 10 years in prison, with fines of Rs 7,500 for Ujjwala and Rs 3,000 for Sajid. The court ordered that Rs 20,000 from the collected fines be paid to the victim.
The case involved the victim’s friend, Ujjwala, who lured the minor girl to her house after the victim dropped her mobile phone and feared being reprimanded by her family. Ujjwala promised to get the phone repaired and called her friends Rizwan and Dashrath to her house. Dashrath then threatened and raped the victim. Later, under the pretext of repairing the mobile at Talegaon Dabhade, the girl was further threatened and taken by Sajid and Rizwan to a lodge in Bhugaon, where Rizwan raped her and assaulted her when she resisted. The victim was also threatened by Sajid and Ujjwala.
Following the victim’s complaint at Dattawadi Police Station, the police arrested the accused and filed charges in court. The prosecution, represented by Additional Public Prosecutor Maruti Wadekar, relied heavily on the victim’s testimony, which proved crucial in securing the convictions. The court delivered the sentences based on the evidence and testimonies presented.
