Pune, October 8, 2020: Khadki police found a two-month-old boy who was abandoned by his parents at the Methodist Church in Khadki. Police traced the infant’s parents and registered a case against them for leaving the baby away. The Police suspect that the couple had abandoned the boy over an argument.
According to police, a citizen Sonali Adagale on her morning walk found a two-month-old baby on the side of the road near a Methodist church around 6.30 am on Tuesday. She immediately informed at the Police station, after which the police and social workers began to trace the child’s parents through social media. While trying to get information on social media, a social activist Nilesh Das found a photo of the child posted on WhatsApp which wrote ‘Miss You’.
When Das contacted the man, he identified as the maternal uncle of the baby and said the baby had died two days ago. Das told the infant’s uncle that the baby was alive and had been admitted to Sassoon for treatment. Then the uncle went to Sassoon hospital and saw the baby alive, he gave the address of his parents. Police brought the baby’s parents to the police station. The parents initially denied it was their baby, but the baby’s uncle confirmed the baby belonged to his sister.
The baby’s father is an engineer and works for a private company. Police have filed a case against the baby’s parents. Police Sub-Inspector Vaishali Sul is investigating the case. “The couple had a fight, they always had arguments.
The baby’s father was suspicious of his wife and suspected that the baby was not his. The husband agreed to live with his wife if she would give up her baby. The two of them left the baby near the church,” said Senior Inspector of Police Rajendra Sahane.
