Two Police Constables and Two Others Injured in Hit-and-Run on Pune-Solapur Road

Manjari, 11th November 2024: Two police constables were injured when a speeding two-wheeler crashed into them at a checkpoint on Pune-Solapur Road yesterday. The checkpoint had been set up as part of the enforcement of the code of conduct ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections. Additionally, a man undergoing investigation and a woman accompanying the accused as a passenger were also injured. A case has been registered against the two-wheeler rider at Hadapsar Police Station.

Police Constables Sanket Gangurde and Bartakke, car driver Chetan Singh, and two-wheeler passenger Sayali Tinge were injured in the incident. Manohar Bhau Ombase (39), a resident of Phursungi, filed a complaint at Hadapsar Police Station. A case has been registered against Karthik Dhawale, the two-wheeler rider.

According to police reports, the checkpoint had been set up in the Manjari area on Pune-Solapur Road yesterday, with barricades in place. At that time, a speeding two-wheeler from Loni Kalbhor lost control and struck Constables Gangurde and Bartakke. The rider also collided with car driver Singh, who had exited his vehicle for inspection. Passenger Sayali Tinge fell from the two-wheeler and was injured as well. The rider fled the scene without stopping. Assistant Police Inspector Rokade from Hadapsar Police Station is continuing the investigation.
