Two-wheeler Catches fire at Petrol Pump on Pune-Ahilyanagar Road; Major Mishap Averted
Pune, 27th March 2026: Panic gripped a petrol pump at Aganagar on Pune-Ahilyanagar Road on Thursday afternoon after a two-wheeler suddenly caught fire while refuelling. Prompt action by staff helped avert a major accident.
The incident occurred between 2.15 pm and 2.30 pm at the Kankaria petrol pump. According to initial information, a rider had arrived on an Activa scooter to fill petrol. Moments after the fuel tank was filled, the vehicle suddenly caught fire, triggering panic in the vicinity.
With flammable fuel stored at the outlet, the situation posed a serious risk. However, pump staff and bystanders acted swiftly and used fire extinguishers to control the blaze before it could spread.
Fire brigade personnel later used water hoses to cool down the vehicle. No injuries were reported, and timely intervention prevented the fire from reaching fuel storage areas, averting a major mishap.
