UGC To Translate Higher Education Textbooks In Tribal Language
New Delhi, 26th December 2022: During a press conference, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the University Grants Commission (UGC) is planning to make textbooks for higher education available in tribal languages in addition to the other 12 languages.
He informed that two tribal universities have opened up and efforts are being made to make National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) first-year materials available in tribal languages.
According to Pradhan, the budget for Eklavya schools will be Rs. 8,500 crores in 2022–23 as compared to Rs. 3,832 crores in 2014–15.
