Pune, 19th October 2021: Union Minister of State for Health Dr Pawar held a review meeting on corona infection and remedies at Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and briefly discussed the related issues at a press conference.

“Pune Municipal Corporation did a good job during the Corona period. Testing, tracking, and treatment were carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Central Government. PMC also set up oxygen production and storage projects while providing beds through Covid Care Center and Hospitals as per requirement”, Dr Pawar said.

Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar, Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasane, Leader of the House Ganesh Bidkar, BJP City General Secretary Rajesh Pandey were present on the occasion.

Appreciating the work of the Corona period, Dr Pawar further said, “The total extra bills of Rs 6.5 crore charged by private hospitals has been reduced by the PMC. Moreover, effective use of technology was made to provide beds to corona-infected patients immediately. Importantly, 88 employees of PMC died due to corona. It is exemplary that the PMC has taken a commendable decision to provide assistance of Rs 50 lakh or a member of the family will be given a job in the municipal corporation.”

Against the backdrop of a possible third wave, vaccination work is being carried out in a proper manner by the civic body. The ongoing public awareness work on vaccination through the corporators is commendable. 48 lakh doses of vaccine have been given within the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation. Although the number of corona-infected patients has decreased, the municipality is effectively conducting public awareness and vaccinations without missing a beat. Against the backdrop of a possible third wave, the corporation, with the help of doctors, has properly provided the necessary medication for the children. Other Municipalities should work inspired by Pune Municipal Corporation, Dr Pawar said.
