Uttarakhand’s Valley of Flowers Opens for Tourists, Nature Lovers Flock on Day One

Chamoli (Uttarakhand), 1st June 2025: The world-renowned Valley of Flowers, nestled in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, officially reopened for tourists on Sunday, marking the beginning of the much-awaited seasonal window for nature enthusiasts and trekkers. On the very first day, 49 visitors arrived to witness the Himalayan marvel, known for its rare alpine flora and breathtaking landscapes.
Under the leadership of Forest Area Officer Chetna Kandpal, the gates of the Valley of Flowers National Park were opened at 7 am following a ceremonial worship. The Forest Department welcomed tourists with warm greetings at the main entrance, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Of the 49 visitors, 45 entered with offline permits, while four had pre-booked online, indicating growing awareness about digital booking options. Kandpal noted that tourists can now obtain entry passes both offline and through the official website, making it easier to plan visits in advance. The entry fee has been set at ₹200 for Indian nationals and ₹800 for foreign tourists.
So far, 62 visitors have registered for the month of June, and the numbers are expected to soar as the blooming season progresses.
The Valley of Flowers is celebrated for its rich biodiversity, including hundreds of species of rare alpine flowers, medicinal herbs, and Himalayan fauna. Open from June to October, the valley continues to draw thousands from across the globe, offering a rare glimpse into an untouched paradise tucked away in the high altitudes of the Garhwal Himalayas.
