Vaishnavi Hagawane Case: Nilesh Chavan Caught from Nepal by Pimpri-Chinchwad Police

Pune, 30th May 2025: In a breakthrough in the Vaishnavi Hagawane suicide case, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested the main accused, Nilesh Chavan, from Nepal. Chavan had been absconding for several days, evading arrest despite intensified search operations by law enforcement agencies.

Nilesh Chavan was accused of threatening Vaishnavi’s uncle and others, along with facing multiple serious charges in connection with her death. Following Vaishnavi’s tragic suicide, Chavan went into hiding, prompting the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police to form six special teams to track him down. Initial suspicion pointed towards him escaping to another Indian state, but further investigation revealed that he had crossed the border into Nepal.

Upon confirming his location, the police acted promptly and arrested him with the help of local coordination. His arrest marks a critical moment in the investigation, bringing some relief to the victim’s family and increasing the chances of justice being served.

Chavan is currently in custody and will soon be brought back to Pimpri-Chinchwad for further questioning and legal proceedings.

This case has drawn widespread attention, especially due to the emotional and legal complexities surrounding Vaishnavi Hagawane’s death. The arrest is expected to accelerate the investigation process and strengthen the case against the accused.
