Vegetable and Fruit Prices Fluctuate at Pune’s Wholesale Market Yard

Pune, 24th March 2025: The prices of shevga, dhobali chili, cauliflower, and groundnut have decreased, while green chili prices have surged, traders at Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard reported. The prices of other fruits and vegetables have remained stable.
On Sunday, the wholesale market received 90 trucks of fruits and vegetables from various parts of Maharashtra and other states. However, the total arrival was lower compared to the previous week.
Senior market official Vilas Bhujbal provided details of the stock received from different regions:
Green chilies: 7-8 tempos from Karnataka, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh
Cabbage: 4-5 tempos from Karnataka and Gujarat
Ghevda: 2-4 tempos from Karnataka
Shevga: 5-6 tempos from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu
Carrots: 5-6 tempos from Rajasthan
Peas: 1 truck from Himachal Pradesh
Groundnuts: 2-3 tempos from Karnataka
Totapuri mangoes (Kairi): 5-6 tempos from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka
Garlic: 10 tempos from Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh
Additionally, fresh arrivals from Pune and nearby regions included 550-600 sacks of Satari, 6-7 tempos of okra, 2-3 tempos of guava, 8-10 thousand boxes of tomatoes, 3-4 tempos of green chilies, 10-12 tempos each of bell peppers, cucumbers, cauliflower, and red pumpkins, along with 100 trucks of onions and 60-65 tempos of potatoes from Indore, Agra, and local markets.
Leafy Vegetables and Citrus Fruits See Price Changes
The prices of coriander, fenugreek, shepu, onion, and safflower have dropped, whereas chakavat, mint, amaranth, root vegetables, chuka, chavali, and spinach prices have remained stable.
In the wholesale market, leafy vegetable prices per hundred pairs were as follows:
Coriander: ₹800-₹1,500
Fenugreek: ₹1,200-₹1,500
Shepu: ₹800-₹1,000
Kandapat: ₹800-₹1,200
Chakawat: ₹400-₹600
Safflower: ₹300-₹600
Mint: ₹300-₹500
Ambadi: ₹300-₹600
Radicchio: ₹800-₹1,200
Amaranth: ₹400-₹600
Chuka: ₹500-₹800
Chavlai: ₹300-₹600
Spinach: ₹800-₹1,200
Meanwhile, lemon and papaya prices have increased, while pomegranate prices have dropped. The prices of pineapple, watermelon, oranges, mosambi, and chiku have remained stable.
On Sunday, the fruit market received:
45-50 tons of citrus fruits
50-60 tons of oranges
30-35 tons of pomegranates
8-10 tempos of papaya
1,500-2,000 sacks of limes
70-80 tempos of watermelons
35-40 tempos of melons
2,000 boxes of chickpeas
250-300 crates of persimmons
4 trucks of pineapples
The market situation indicates fluctuations in pricing due to supply variations. Traders expect further changes in rates depending on demand in the coming weeks.
