Pune 15th Sept 2023: Amid protests across the state over demand for reservation to the Maratha community in the state, a village from Pune has decided to ban entry to the political leaders of all political parties as a mark of protest against them. The villagers of Palasdev in Indapur taluka have claimed that the community has been struggling to get reservation despite having many marath MLAs in Maharashtra. The villagers have put banners across the village with a clear message to ban the entry of politicians.

“The Maratha community in Maharashtra should be given the reservation. All the political parties only remember the community during the elections and once they are elected they forget us. We have decided to ban entry of leaders of all the political parties in our village unless the Maratha community gets the reservation” one of the villagers said.

“Despite having many MLAs of the Maratha community in Maharashtra they failed to get reservation. The Sakal Maratha Samaj members at Palasdev village have taken a decision to ban entry of the political leaders of all the political parties unless they are given reservation” said another villager.

It may be noted that many districts across Maharashtra reported violent protests after a group of protestors in a village at Jalna district were lathicharged by the police. The protestors in Jalna were demanding reservation for the Maratha community and the protest was led by Manoj Jarange Patil. Jarange Patil agreed to end his strike after the state government assured to fulfil the majority of his demands on Thursday.
