Viman Nagar Fruit Seller Helps Pune Police Bust Gang Of 4 Robbers

Viman Nagar, 22nd September 2021: A fruit seller from Viman Nagar was felicitated by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Pankaj Deshmukh for helping Pune city police arrest four robbers.

DCP Deshmukh also handed over a Rs 5,000 cash reward to Datta Bharat Khade, who has a fruit stall at Datta Mandir Chowk in Viman Nagar.

According to police, there has been a rise in cases of mobile phone snatching cases in the last two weeks. Police teams collected CCTVs footage from various spots and showed it to shopkeepers, stall owners among others and sought help from them.

On September 9th, Datta was at his fruit stall when he saw four men on two bikes without number plates at Datta Mandir Chowk. He immediately informed Police Sub Inspector Sachin Jadhav from the detection branch (DB) of Vimantal police station. A team rushed to the spot and caught the four men with help from Datta.

Senior Police Inspector Bharat Jadhav, in-charge of Vimantal police station, said that investigations revealed that the four arrested men were coming to Pune from Karnataka and committed robbery. A total of 14 mobile phones and two Splendor motorcycles worth Rs 2.65 lakh have been recovered from them, he added.

The arrested persons have been identified as Manoj Kashinath Kasle (20), Shilarsaheb Mohammad Ismail Saudagar (20), Balaji DHanraj Kasle (22) and Sherli Chandsaheb Shaikh (22), all natives of Bhalki in Bidar district of Karnataka. They stayed in Kasturba Vasahat in Aundh, Pune.

Police said that the accused persons used to sell fruit juice in Shivajinagar. During the lockdown, their business suffered losses and they got into looting mobile phones of people.
