Violence Erupts in Downtown Los Angeles as Apple Store, Other Shops Looted Amid Immigration Protests

Los Angeles, 10th June 2025: Downtown Los Angeles witnessed intense unrest late Monday as demonstrations over immigration raids turned violent, leading to a wave of looting and vandalism. Among the hardest-hit locations was a major Apple Store on West 8th Street and Broadway, which was stormed by a group of masked individuals.
What initially began as peaceful protests against federal immigration enforcement actions quickly spiraled out of control after sundown. Videos widely shared on social media show dozens of individuals clad in dark clothing and hoodies smashing the store’s glass façade before storming inside and fleeing with electronic devices and other high-value goods.
Graffiti was also spray-painted across the storefront, echoing the deep anger and frustration fueling the protests.
“This is not protest — this is opportunism,” said LAPD spokesperson Sgt. Maria Gutierrez. “The moment peaceful gatherings cross into destruction of property and theft, we intervene. Arrests have been made, and more are likely as we review surveillance footage.”
Officials said the Apple Store wasn’t the only business targeted. Several retail outlets, including a popular Adidas store, pharmacies, marijuana dispensaries, and local jewelry shops in the area, were also vandalized and looted.
The unrest stems from a new wave of immigration crackdowns that began last Friday under federal orders. The resulting detentions have sparked widespread concern, particularly within immigrant communities in LA.
While daytime demonstrations have remained mostly peaceful, authorities report that nights have seen a consistent spike in violence and lawlessness.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass condemned the acts in a statement shared online: “Let me be clear — those who looted and vandalized our city last night were not standing up for immigrant rights. They were exploiting a crisis. We will hold them accountable.”
The LAPD confirmed that three individuals have been arrested in connection with Monday night’s incidents, including one woman charged with burglary at the Apple Store and two others involved in looting activities.
Police presence in Downtown LA has since been increased, with officers on high alert as protests continue for a fourth consecutive day. City officials have urged demonstrators to maintain peace and avoid situations that could escalate further.
