Pune: FYJC Admission Process Delayed Again; Students and Parents Frustrated by Repeated Rescheduling

Pune, 11th June 2025: The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for first-year junior college (FYJC) admissions across Maharashtra has been postponed once again — marking the third delay in a row. As per the revised schedule released on Monday, the allotment list for the first round will now be declared on June 26, leaving over 12 lakh students waiting.
The delays have triggered strong reactions from both students and parents who have been left in limbo amid repeated changes to the schedule.
Officials from the CAP committee cited technical challenges and an influx of incomplete applications as the main reasons for the delay. Many students had only filled out Part I of the application form, and were recently given an extended deadline to complete Part II, which added to the workload.
“Apart from some technical hiccups, the extra time given to students to complete Part II increased the total number of eligible candidates,” explained Shriram Panzade, Education Officer (Secondary). “This adjustment is meant to ensure more students get fair college allotments.”
Revised Schedule:
Zero Round Merit List (Quota Seats): June 11
Admissions under Zero Round (Quota): June 12–14
Review of Student Preferences: June 17
First Round College Allotment List: June 26
Admission Window (First Round): June 27–July 3
Vacant Seats List for Second Round: July 5
Around 84,000 students had only completed Part I of the application before the original deadline. They were given an extra two days to fill in Part II, significantly increasing the final pool of applicants.
With over 12.7 lakh students vying for college seats this year, officials say the extended timeline is necessary to manage the process accurately. However, many parents and students are growing anxious as the academic calendar gets delayed further.
