Violent Clash at Azam Campus in Pune Leaves Two Students Seriously Injured

Camp, 6th July 2025: Two students were seriously injured in a violent clash involving sharp weapons, including a sickle, iron rod and a hammer, at Azam Campus on Friday. The incident, which occurred during college hours, triggered panic among students and faculty, raising serious concerns about campus security.
Videos and images of the attack quickly went viral on social media, showing the extent of the violence and sparking outrage among parents and citizens. The incident took place while regular college activities were underway, causing chaos and fear among students and staff.
Based on a complaint filed by a 16-year-old boy from Bhimpura, Camp, an FIR has been registered at Lashkar Police Station against Aman Shaikh, Ashraf Shaikh, Jainul Tamboli, and Shahbaz Shaikh, all residents of Bhawani Peth. According to the FIR, “After Friday namaz at the campus mosque, I was heading home when the accused attacked me and my friends with sharp weapons around 2 PM. They were enraged due to past enmity. I sustained injuries on my hand.”
In a cross-complaint filed by 18-year-old Ashraf Aslam Shaikh, he alleged that the conflict stemmed from an earlier dispute during Ramzan. “There was an argument between my brother Aman and Imaad over looking at each other with disdain. On Friday, while I was going to the Azam Campus mosque for prayers, I saw Ahad make a phone call after looking at me. After the prayers, while we were in the parking area, the accused Ahad Khan, Imad Shaikh, Ayan Sayyed, Atif Shah, Umer Bagwan, and the earlier complainant attacked us with iron rods and sharp weapons. As people started gathering, the attackers fled,” the FIR stated.
Following the alert, a team from Pune Police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the campus and nearby areas is being reviewed to identify the assailants. Police officials have assured strict action and have stated that campus security will be intensified to prevent such incidents in the future.
