Viral Video Exposes Auto Driver’s Misconduct at Pune Railway Station

Pune, 1st February 2025: A recent viral social media video highlighting the harassment of a young woman by an auto-rickshaw driver at Pune Railway Station has reignited concerns over passenger safety and unchecked misconduct by auto drivers in the city.
The incident, which occurred on 31st January 2025, saw the driver intimidate the woman for opting for an Uber cab instead of his auto, demanding Rs 200 instead of the app-based fare of Rs 160, and threatening her with “I’ll deal with you in Kharadi” as she boarded the cab.
The frequent commuter victim was waiting for her pre-booked Uber cab when the auto driver confronted her. After she declined his service, he aggressively questioned the cab’s fare and blocked her from entering the vehicle. The driver later banged on the cab’s window and issued a direct threat, which was captured on video and shared widely online.
This follows a pattern of similar conflicts at the station, where prepaid auto services have been repeatedly disrupted by groups of drivers demanding inflated fares.
