Vocalist Pt. Aviraj Tayade to be honoured with the first ‘Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Kalagandharva Awa

Pune, July 20, 2019 : Renowned Vocalist Pt. Aviraj Tayade will be honoured with first ‘Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Kalagandharva Award’ for his excellence in Indian classical music. The award in its first year, is announced by Kalashree Sangeet Mandal to acknowledge the contribution of artists in classical music.  The award consists of Rs. 11 thousand along with a trophy and citation, informed Sudhakar Chavan, Founder, Kalashree Sangeet Mandal.

Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Kalagandharva Award will be presented to Pt. Tayade at the hands of Shubhada Mulgund, daughter of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi in a special 3-day music festival named ‘Bharatratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Mahotsav’ organized in between July 26 to July 28.

Pt. Tayade is a Hindustani classical Vocalist from Nashik who currently works as Dean of S.N.D.T University Mumbai as well as the Head of the Department of Music at SMRK BK. AK. Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nashik. He garnered interest for Music from his mother Sushilabai. He learnt the initial lessons in music from Devraojee Bhalerao. Afterwards, he learnt from Pt. Rambhau Mate, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and Pt. C.R. Vyas.
