Wagholi, June 6, 2020: To prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Pune district administration has banned people of Wagholi, Manjari, Narhe and Kadamwakvasti from travelling to Pune city and Pimpri Chinchwad areas for seven days between June 6-12.

Similarly, people from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) areas will not be allowed entry to these areas. However, medical services in essential commodities and essential services, police officers and staff have been excluded from this.

A revised order in this regard was issued by Haveli Sub-Divisional Officer Sachin Baravkar on Friday (June 5). Strict implementation of this order will be done by the police, administration and gram panchayat for seven days. Notice boards have been put up and messages were sent on WhatsApp also.

A meeting of the concerned officials of Haveli taluka was held recently to address the growing number of corona patients in the rural areas of Haveli taluka. It was unanimously agreed that it would be necessary to impose restrictions on both the workers and government employees of the villages where corona infection is on the rise.

Corona patients are increasing in Wagholi, Manjari Budruk, Narhe, Kadamwakvasti. Despite the measures being taken, the government officials in these villages travel to and fro work. The possibility of the spread of infection in such a situation cannot be ruled out. Therefore, all private, government officials, employees, traders, labourers and workers in Wagholi, Manjari Budruk, Narhe, Kadamwakvasti villages will not be able to come and go for work in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area from 5 am on June 6 to June 12.

Violation of the order will result in legal action. From Wagholi, workers can go to work in Ranjangaon, Sanaswadi, Koregaon and rural areas. The order has been partially amended to exclude medical services and other essential services, police officers and staff, officers and employees working for COVID19 management and others.

Teachers have been appointed in the investigation team by the tehsildar’s office. The teachers will implement the order with the help of Talathi, Village Development Officer, local police and Home Guards. Meanwhile, Lonikand police station said that they will check the citizens coming to the entry points of Khandvenagar, Lohgaon Road and Wagholi village. It will be forbidden to leave Wagholi and enter Wagholi from Pune city.

At present IT companies have been allowed to operate with 50% employees. Hundreds of employees of companies in Kharadi, Hadapsar, Magarpatta City, Viman Nagar, reside in Wagholi and Manjari areas.

The order has led to confusion and inconvenience for people. Many people took to Twitter to put forth their grievances. Deep Patel tweeted, “@CMOMaharashtra @PMOIndia How can they expect us to stay at workplaces, which company will arrange accommodation for the employees, and even if they arrange we will have to leave our family alone and stay out of wagholi..”

Ranjjit Jadhav tweeted, “@Info_Pune police are stopping company employees from going to companies in lonikand and ahead. They r saying wagholi is closed for 1 week. Is there any such notification. We have permission for essential goods also.”

Palash Haque posted, “The officials who decided this must have left their brains at homes as korona might infect it. The entire country is at unlock 1.0 phase and what is the logic of increasing numbers? Wagholi is not even a containment zone as per state or center”

Ankit Dwivedi tweeted, “Can we go to airport from wagholi for pick and drop of family members or do we need pass for that”
