Want to Make Pune Safest for IT, Says Pune Police Chief Amitesh Kumar to Techies in Magarpatta

Hadapsar, 29th January 2025: In a significant step towards enhancing safety and addressing traffic issues in Pune, a meeting was held today between the Pune Police and representatives from various IT companies located in Zone 5, specifically the Magarpatta area. This meeting, organized by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, took place from 11 AM to 12:30 PM and was attended by Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar.
The gathering saw participation from Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Manoj Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Hadapsar Division) Anuradha Udamale, and Managing Director of Magarpatta Township Satish Magar, along with representatives from nearly 1,000 IT companies.
Key issues discussed included the challenges faced by tech professionals commuting to work, particularly concerning women’s safety and traffic congestion in the area. Commissioner Amitesh Kumar assured attendees that the police would take actionable steps to address these concerns. He emphasized his commitment to making Pune a safer city for those working in the IT sector.
In addition to safety discussions, the meeting also addressed the need for tobacco-free educational environments. The police reiterated their commitment to enforcing the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act of 2003 (COTPA) against violators, aiming to ensure a healthier atmosphere for students.
Commissioner Kumar stated, “I am committed to making Pune the safest city for the IT field,” reflecting the administration’s focus on improving urban safety and infrastructure as part of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s recently outlined seven-day agenda aimed at enhancing governance and public welfare in Maharashtra.
