Water Security Boost for Pune: Rs 315 Crore Approved for Temghar Dam in Mulshi

Mumbai, 4th February 2025: The Maharashtra state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, approved three major decisions in today’s meeting, focusing on revenue, water resources, and soil and water conservation. While the grand alliance government has been holding regular cabinet meetings, significant policy decisions have been limited so far.
Among the key decisions, the Abhay scheme has been extended by one year, providing relief to citizens. The scheme facilitates lower premium rates for converting government occupant class-2 lands into occupant class-1 for cooperative housing societies. It applies to land leased for agricultural, non-agricultural, residential, commercial, and industrial purposes.
Pune & Satara Districts Benefit from Water Projects
The cabinet granted administrative approval for the Temghar project in Pune district, allocating ₹315.05 crore for dam strengthening and leakage prevention in Mulshi taluka. This is expected to bolster water security and infrastructure in the region.
Additionally, ₹170 crore has been approved for 25 projects to construct submerged dams in the Koyna reservoir area, covering Mahabaleshwar and Jawali talukas in Satara district. This initiative, under the Soil and Water Conservation Department, aims to enhance water storage and management in drought-prone regions.
