Pune, 5th June 2021: Shiv Sena’s official stand is that all the three parties from Maha Vikas Aaghadi (MVA) contest the forthcoming local body elections as well as municipal elections together, said Member of Parliament (MP) and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday.

“If there is an alliance for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections, then we will contest 80 seats,” he added.

The Shiv Sena leader was in Khed after Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) officials had a problem with each other. Subsequently, Raut held discussions in the evening with his Shiv Sena party members from Pune city regarding various issues, including municipal elections.

As per reports, party members and officials have received instructions to prepare for the forthcoming municipal elections on their own. The final decision regarding contesting elections will be based on the chances of winning the elections.

“We have been discussing the equations for the forthcoming municipal elections. It is yet to be decided whether every party will contest separately or as Maha Vikas Aaghadi. We believe that MVA should contest local body elections together,” Raut said.

He also added that if the three parties from the MVA contest the municipal elections together, then Shiv Sena will want to contest 80 seats. “We will do everything in our power to win the elections, even if it warrants changing the ward system,” Raut added.
