Pune, 16th June 2026: Cyber criminals allegedly cheated two Pune residents of a total of ₹11.29 lakh in separate online fraud cases, prompting the registration of offences at the Bund Garden and Kondhwa police stations.

According to police, a 56-year-old resident of the Bund Garden area received a wedding invitation link on his mobile phone between May 9 and May 11, 2026. After opening the link, the victim allegedly lost access to his banking credentials, enabling cyber fraudsters to withdraw ₹5.30 lakh from his account through unauthorised online transactions.

Police said an individual identified as “Raghunandan Kumar Amazon Fraud” was named in the complaint. A case has been registered at the Bund Garden police station, and Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Chavan is investigating the matter.

In another incident, a 68-year-old resident of Kondhwa was targeted by cyber fraudsters on June 1, 2026. The accused allegedly posed as customer care representatives of the Bank of India and contacted the victim under the pretext of updating his Know Your Customer (KYC) details.

The fraudsters reportedly sent an APK file to the victim, who unknowingly downloaded and opened it. Soon after, ₹5,99,453 was debited from his bank account.

Following the incident, the senior citizen approached the Kondhwa police station and lodged a complaint. Police Inspector (Crime) Mandale is conducting further investigations into the case.

Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and avoid opening suspicious links or downloading APK files received through messages or calls from unknown sources, as cyber criminals continue to use such tactics to gain unauthorised access to bank accounts and personal information.
