What Caused the Air India Dreamliner Crash? High-Level Committee Begins Probe

Ahmedabad/Pune, 17th June 2025: The Union Home Secretary has constituted a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the tragic Air India Dreamliner crash that occurred in Ahmedabad. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol confirmed that the investigation is currently underway, with key findings expected once the aircraft’s black box data is fully analyzed.

“Several small but significant findings are expected once the black box analysis is complete. The committee, headed by the Union Home Secretary, has been directed to submit a detailed report within three months,” Mohol said while addressing the media on the incident.

To aid in victim identification, authorities have collected DNA samples from 270 individuals. So far, the remains of 70 to 80 passengers have been identified and handed over to their families.

In the wake of the crash, the Central Government has also ordered a comprehensive inspection of all 34 Dreamliner aircraft currently operated by Air India. According to officials, inspections have already been completed on 10 to 12 aircraft, with no irregularities reported so far.

The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the disaster and ensure the safety of the Dreamliner fleet. The findings from the probe are expected to play a critical role in shaping future aviation safety protocols.
