Wholesale Market In Pune Sees Surge In Arrivals; Prices Of Key Vegetables Decline

Market Yard, 10th March 2025: Prices of Onions, Bell Peppers, and Groundnuts (Bhuimug) have decreased due to increased arrivals. Traders informed that prices of other fruits and vegetables are stable. Wholesale Market in Market Yard.

According to the information received, 100 truckloads of fruits and vegetables were imported into the wholesale market at Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard on Sunday (9th March) from the state and outside of Maharashtra.

Seven to eight tempos of Green Chillies each from Karnataka, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh; four to five tempos carrying Cabbage each from Karnataka and Gujarat; three to four tempos of Common Bean (Ghewda) from Karnataka; four to five tempos carrying Drumsticks (Shevaga) from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu; eight to 10 tempos carrying Carrots from Rajasthan; eight tempos of Peas from Simla, Himachal Pradesh; three to four tempos carrying Lima Bean (Pavta), three tempos of Groundnuts (Bhuimug), five to six tempos of Raw Mango (Totapuri Kairi) from Andhra Pradesh while 10 to 12 tempos of Garlic from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat were imported.

From Pune Division 500 to 600 sacks of Ginger from Satara, seven to eight tempos carrying Okra, five to six tempos of Guar, 9,000-10,000 boxes carrying Tomatoes, Green Chilli in four to five tempos, nine to 10 tempos carrying Bell Peppers, seven to eight tempos of Cucumber, Cabbages in eight to 10 tempos, Cauliflower in 10 to 12 tempos, Red Pumpkin in 10 to 12 tempos, Onion in as many as 125 to 150 trucks along with also 40 tempos of carrying potatoes from Indore, Agra, and local areas were imported.

The prices of Dill Leaves (Shepu), Spring Onion (Kandapat), White Goosefoot (Chakwat) and Amaranth were said to be increased. The prices of leafy vegetables such as Corriandor, Fenugreek (Methi), Safflower Leaves (Kardai), Green Sorrel (Chuka), Spinach, Indian Radish, Sorrel Leaves (Ambadi), Cowpea (Chawli) and Chickpea have said to be stable. It is further informed that 90,000 lakh pairs of Coriander and 60,000 pairs of Fenugreek (Methi) were imported into the market on Sunday.

The prices of 100 pairs of leafy vegetables in the wholesale market are reported as follows:

-Coriander: ₹1,000-₹1,500
-Fenugreek (Methi): ₹800 to ₹1,200
-Dill Leaves (Shepu): ₹800 to ₹1,000
-Spring Onion (Kandapat): ₹800 to ₹1,200
-White Goosefoot (Chakwat): ₹300 to ₹600
-Safflower Leaves (Kardai): ₹300 to ₹600
-Mint: ₹300 to ₹500
-Sorrel Leaves (Ambadi): ₹300 to ₹600
-Indian Radish: ₹800 to ₹1,200
-Amaranth: ₹400 to ₹700
-Green Sorrel (Chuka): ₹500 to ₹800
-Cowpea (Chawli): ₹400 to ₹600
-Spinach: ₹800 to ₹1,200

The prices of Oranges, Papaya and Lemon have sait to be increased while the prices of Melon and Guava said to be decreased. Traders informed that the price of Watermelon, Chiku, Sweet Lemon (Mosambi), Pineapple and Strawberry are stable.

In the fruit market on Sunday, six trucks of pineapples, 30 to 40 tons of Sweet Lemon (Mosambi), 40 to 50 tons of Oranges, 20 to 25 tons of Pomegranates, 10 to 15 tempos carrying Papaya, 1,500-2,000 sacks of Lemon, 70 to 80 tempos of Watermelon, 30 to 40 tempos of Melon, 2,000 boxes of Chiku, 300 to 400 plastic crates carrying Guava were imported.
