Pune, 9th October 2026: As many as 51 traffic signals within the Pune Police Commissionerate limits stopped working at around 8 am on Friday, reportedly due to an issue during the ongoing installation and updating of new prepaid electricity meters.

According to information shared by Pune City Police, officials contacted a junior engineer from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Electrical Department, identified as Murmure, to ascertain the reason for the disruption.

The engineer reportedly said that new prepaid electricity meters are being installed and the related updating work is underway. Some traffic signals stopped functioning due to an issue during the process, and efforts were being made to restore them.

The disruption affected traffic signals at multiple locations across the Pune Police Commissionerate limits. However, the police communication did not specify the locations of the affected signals or provide a timeline for their restoration.
