Will try to include Roll Ball in the list of Country’s Priority Games – Sarbananda Sonowal

· The logo of 3rd Roll Ball World Cup 2015 unveiled in the city

Pune, 11th October : Introduced in Pune by city’s very own Raju Dabhade, Roll Ball is a game of speed, thrill and excitement. Born in 2003, this game is now played at international level by many countries. On the occasion of upcoming 3rd Roll Ball World Cup 2015, which is being held in Pune, the logo of 3rd Roll Ball World Cup 2015 was launched today during a ceremonious event held in the city at the hands of Sarbananda Sonowal – Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports.

While speaking on the occasion, Sarbananda Sonowal – Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports said, “Roll Ball has a humble origin. It is a only game in the history of sports which has had its 1st World Cup in a span of 8 years since it was born. I must thank Raju Dabhade for giving us such a electrifying sport. We all must unite for the promotion and prosperity of this sport in the country and I assure you that I shall try my best to promote this game at national and international level. I will try and get higher priority for Roll Ball in the list of country’s Priority Games and will also try to get more funds from the ministry of Indian Government for the development of this game. I am sure that Roll Ball will be a part of Olympics soon.”

Roll Ball is a combination of Skating, Handball, Throwball and Basketball. Played by a team of 12 players, the game stands on the pillars of balance, endurance, speed and team-work. It is a free flowing game which requires great set of skills and expertise. This game was introduced in February 2003 after a lot of research and thorough study by city’s talented sports personality Raju Dabhade. The game has achieved great heights in past 11 years. At present around 35 countries in the world are involved in Roll Ball. Numerous National Tournaments & 6 International Championships of this game have taken place in India and abroad.

The upcoming 3rd Roll Ball World Cup 20115 will be held in the city between 14th to 20th December 2015 at Shri Shiv Chatrapati Krida Sankul, Mahalunge, Balewadi. This year it will be participated by around 400 players from 30 different countries of the world.

Dr. Deepak Mane – Head of the Sports Department, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Chetan Bhandwalkar – captain of Indian Roll Ball team for the year 2011 and 2013, Anand Yadav – Technical Director, IRBF, Mrs Bodhankar – Principal, MES Balshikshan Mandir English Medium School were felicitated during this program at the hand of Sarbananda Sonowal for the great support which they have extended towards the promotion and development of the game. The program was presented by Satish Gharpure and the vote of thanks were offered by Vineet Kuber.
