With 143 new cases, Pune district tally of Coronavirus Positive cases reach 1491

Pune, April 28, 2020: As per the latest information available with the Pune district health officer (DHO) till 9 pm today, there has been an increase of 143 COVID19 patients in the last 24 hours. The total tally of Coronavirus Positive patients has reached 1491 which includes 83 deaths and 203 who have been cured and discharged from hospitals till now. The first case in Maharashtra was detected in Pune on March 9.

According to the DHO report, out of 1491 total patients, 1320 were from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), 103 from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), 43 from Pune rural and 25 from the Cantonment board areas. However, later PMC data till late night stated that the total number of patients has reached 1339, while in PCMC the number has reached 107.

According to PMC officials, there were 122 new patients which the highest for a single day. Two patients died today while 27 patients were discharged after being cured. There are still 1057 active patients including 73 in critical conditions. Till now 79 patients have died in Pune city while 203 have been cured and discharged from different hospitals. Every day about 650 people are being tested in PMC areas.

On the other hand, there were 11 new cases of Coronavirus positive COVID19 in Pimpri-Chinchwad today taking the total tally to 107. Also, two patients from Kharalwadi were discharged today after being cured. Till now four patients including one from Pune have died while 31 have been cured and discharged. Therefore, there are still 72 active patients undergoing treatment in different hospitals.

729 new Covid-19 cases were reported today in the state taking the state tally to 9318 in Maharashtra. There were 31 COVID-related deaths in the state today. Out of these, 25 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 4 in Jalgaon, and 2 in Pune city. In today’s state report deaths in Mumbai are from the period 20th April 2020 to 28th April 2020 and deaths in Jalgaon are from the last four days.

Out of the 31 deaths today, 16 were men and 15 women. 20 of them aged over 60 years, 10 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 1 was under 40 years of age. 20 out of 31 patients (65%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart disease, TB etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 400 in the state.

Out of 1,29,931 laboratory samples, 1,20,136 were negative and 9318 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 664 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 9361 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 38.30 lakh population was done. 1388 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery. Currently, 1,55,170 people are in-home quarantine and 9,917 people are in institutional quarantine.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there were 1594 new cases and 51 deaths reported in the last 24 hours across India. The total number of Coronavirus positive cases have increased to 29,974 (including 22010 active cases, 7027 cured/ discharged/ migrated) and 937 deaths.
