Bavdhan, 13th June 2025: Members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) staged a strong protest on Thursday outside Ramchandra International Institute of Management in Bavdhan, Pune, demanding the immediate arrest of the institute’s chairman, Suraj Sharma, who is facing allegations of sexual harassment.

According to the complaint filed at Bavdhan Police Station, the woman, who works as a manager at the institute, has accused Sharma of repeated misconduct and making inappropriate remarks. The incident reportedly took place in the second week of May, when Sharma allegedly said to the woman, “You look very beautiful,” before grabbing her hand and pulling her towards him.

Following the woman’s complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to molestation. However, the delay in Sharma’s arrest has sparked outrage, particularly among local youth and political activists.

Expressing anger over the inaction, MNVS members gathered outside the institute and raised slogans demanding justice for the victim. Protesters accused the authorities of protecting Sharma, who hails from outside Maharashtra, and demanded his immediate arrest.

“A non-Marathi chairman molests a Marathi woman and is still roaming free—this is unacceptable. Suraj Sharma must be arrested immediately,” protesters said.

The protest underscored broader concerns about women’s safety in workplaces and the swift enforcement of the law in cases involving influential individuals.

As of now, no official response has been issued by the institute or Sharma regarding the allegations. Police sources have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
