Mumbai, March 5th, 2020: According to ‘Age of Rage’[1]survey by Tata Salt Lite, women are more resilient compared to men when it comes to anger whether it is traffic or work related. Although women are more likely to succumb to ‘Work Stress’, men are more likely to react in anger and even make some intentional errors as compared to women.

The findings from Age of Rage survey revealed some differences between men and women and their reactions when faced with stressful situations. For instance, although issues related to work, are the top cause of stress for one-in-five women respondents (20%), it is men who turn red with rage at the sight of unexpected work. In fact, 64% of men would lose their temper if their boss assigned them work on a holiday compared to 58% women and 57% of men would lose their temper if their boss requested them to stay back at work on a Friday compared to 52% women. In addition to this, delay for work due to traffic jams makes 57% male respondents loose their cool with the traffic police or other drivers compared to 55% female respondents.

According to the survey, men are most ‘often’ the victim of ‘Tech Rage’ as 64% of the male respondents as compared to 61% of female respondents admitted that they get aggressive and angry if someone unplugs their phone while it’s charging without asking them. 69% of the male respondents as compared to 65% of the female respondnets get frustrated and end up getting into argument with service provider, If Wi-Fi connection or internet abruptly stops working. Similar attributes were observed between the male and female respondents as 66% of the male respondents get angry for some reason once or more than once in a day compared to 64% of the female respondents. Age of Rage gets transferred to office colleagues as 43% of men lose their temper at their office colleagues or outsiders compared to 35% women.

Dr. Rajesh Padhi, Specialist, Critical and Internal medicine, CARE Hospitals, explained, “In today’s day and age women play a multifaceted role. They live a high-intensity life fulfilling their role as a mother, housewife, daughter and a working professional where stress has become a universal phenomenon. Time and time again, we see them feeling overwhelmed because of the pressures that they face as part of modern life. It is imperative to maintain a balance by eating healthy and adequately as deficiency or over eating both trigger body and mental stress. One of the ways to control hypertension is to use low sodium salt. Low sodium salt is refined, iodised and potassium enriched and has lower sodium than regular salt.”

Mr. Sagar Boke, Head, Marketing, Foods Business, Tata Consumer Products Ltd. said, “The ubiquity of social media and work-life balance pressures has caught our youngest citizen’s off-guard, causing them to over-react even in innocuous situations. While this survey is a lightway to highlight how sometimes we react to even the most trivial and life’s small irritations, our campaign has a serious objective. As a brand Tata Salt Lite contains 15% less sodium and hence drives conscious and adequate- not too little neither too much, consumption of salt for all our consumers so that they can best manage their temperament when juxtaposed with situations that trigger stress.”

Mr. Boke further added, “According to research by National Center for Biotechnology Information, each 1-point increase in anger was associated with a 12% increase in the risk of hypertension[2].”
