Work from home relaxations for IT companies, BPOs, ITeS extended till December 31: Central government

Pune, 22 July 2020: Given the increasing cases of coronavirus infection, the government has extended the period of work from home for IT, BPO companies. Work from Home (WFH) relaxations issued by the central government to these companies have been extended by five months. Now, these instructions are valid till 31 December. The government announced this on Tuesday. Earlier, the period of these instructions was ending on 31 July itself.

In a tweet, the Department of Telecommunications, Govt. of India, said, “The department has extended the relaxation in terms and conditions for work from home facility till 31 December 2020, in view of the increasing concern due to increasing cases of coronavirus infection.”

Significantly, in March, the Department of Telecommunications had relaxed some rules for other service providers in the wake of the Coronavirus epidemic to provide their employees with work from home. Thereafter, the period of this exemption was extended to 31 July.

The graph of cases of coronavirus disease (COVID19) infection continues to grow in India. As of today morning, there were a total of 11,94,105 cases of coronavirus infection in the country. Of these, 7,52,393 people have recovered. At the same time, there are still 4,12,537 active patients. Apart from this, 28,770 people have died tragically in the country so far from this epidemic. Maharashtra has the highest number of cases of coronavirus infection reported at 3,27,031. In Maharashtra alone, 12,276 people have died due to this virus. Pune district has got about 60,000 cases.
