X-Ray Machine, CISF Jawans Increased For Crowd Control At Pune Airport
Pune, 31st December 2022: The Pune Airport Authority has made some important changes in the terminal to control the rush of passengers. Three additional x-ray machines have been installed in the domestic terminal for speedy screening of passengers’ bags and passengers, now the number of x-ray machines in the domestic section has increased to nine. On the other hand, it has been proposed to increase the number of CISF personnel. Accordingly, 41 additional jawans will enter the airport.
For the past few days, the growing crowd at the airport had become a matter of concern for the administration. More than 30,000 passengers are traveling through Pune airport during the day. Some expressed displeasure at the increasing congestion, while others complained directly to the Civil Aviation Minister. Taking cognizance of this, the airport administration has devised some plans to divide the crowd and control it.
The number of international flights at the airport is only three. Compared to that, the number of domestic flights is very high. Due to the high number of domestic passengers, the airport administration has reduced the X-ray machine in the international area and increased the machine in the domestic area. Its good effect is visible now. The airport administration said that about 25 per cent of the crowd was divided.
CISF personnel are deployed day and night for the security of the airport and passengers. Presently 450 jawans are working in three shifts at Pune Airport. But considering the number of passengers, this number is decreasing. Therefore, the airport administration decided to increase the number of personnel till the winter schedule. Accordingly, 41 jawans were proposed. Out of these 10 jawans are currently posted at the airport. The remaining 30 jawans will join in the first week of January. If the number of jawans increases, it will help to speed up the checking of passengers and their documents.
