Pune, 12th February 2024: A group of Youth Congress office-bearers found themselves in police custody today following their attempt to march to the BJP office in protest against the increasing crime rate in Maharashtra and recent attacks on Nikhil Wagle and Adv Asim Sarode during the Nirbhay Bano Sabha.

Initially, the Youth Congress activists were confined within the Congress Bhavan premises by the police, preventing their intended march to the BJP office. Despite being denied permission for a bike rally, the activists became increasingly agitated. Subsequently, they attempted to proceed in cars parked outside the Congress hall, leading the police to intervene and detain them on the road.

Expressing frustration with the state government’s approach to law and order issues, Uday Bhanu Chib, the State in charge of the Youth Congress, accused the Maharashtra government of prioritizing political strategies over addressing crucial state matters. He lamented the worsening law and order situation, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention.

Similarly, Akshay Jain criticized the government’s perceived failure to control the rising crime rates. He pointed out instances of bold attacks against police personnel by BJP leaders and the government’s alleged neglect in addressing recruitment scams, including the Talathi recruitment scam.

Several prominent Youth Congress leaders, including Uday Bhanu Chib, Ehsan Khan, Akshay Jain, Tariq Bagwan, Rahul Shirsat, and Prathmesh Abnave, were among those detained by the police. After discussions with the authorities, the detained workers were eventually released, following an understanding.
