YouTube sets it eyes on Pune to inspire the nextgen of YouTube creators

Pune, March 2, 2017: With close to 400 million Internet users in India, high engagement with online video content is driving rapid growth of the online video creator ecosystem in India.  In 2016, several independent video content creators saw robust growth in their viewership hitting new levels of success in India. To further accelerate this growth, YouTube is putting its efforts behind the creators who are at the heart of YouTube with the launch of a new campaign #SeeSomethingNew.

Designed to inspire new creators and help audience discover more of their favorite content, the campaign puts the spotlight on top Indian creators across content categories like Food, Comedy, Music and Tech. The campaign features creators like Nisha Madhulika a homemaker from Noida with over 10 lakhs subscribers and seventeen year old budding Chef Yaman Agarwal with his CookingShooking channel from Hyderabad. In entertainment, the campaign showcases BeingIndian the quirky, Indian, Observational and Youthful channel with over a million subscribers and 191 million views.

SANAMShirley Setia and the super talented India-born American singer Vidyavox whose mashup video’s have everyone grooving to her music. With India being the largest consumer market for everything tech, the campaign also puts the focus on GeekyRanjit and Dubai based Technical Guruji, who are helping millions of Indians decide the best gadget to buy.

The feature will also help creators earn revenue from live streaming, with Super Chat, a new live stream tool that lets any fan watching a live stream stand out from the crowd and get a creator’s attention by purchasing chat messages that are highlighted in bright colors and stay pinned to the top of the chat window for up to five hours.
