Pune, 13th September 2021: Zomato, an online food delivery platform, has scrapped its grocery delivery services for the second time in two years. The service will be closed from September 17. The company announced in an email on Friday.

Foodtech platform has decided to discontinue its grocery delivery service due to delays in order fulfilment, low customer response and increasing competition in the market. The company was promising express delivery in 15 minutes. Therefore, we want to close the experimental distribution service of grocery goods from 17th September 2021, Zomato said.

Another company Grofers is doing very well in this market, delivering in 10 minutes. In such a case, our investment in this company would be a great option for the shareholders of the company.

We have decided to shut down our grocery pilot and currently have no plans to run any other type of grocery delivery on our platform,” a Zomato spokesperson said.
